I am taking a course this summer entitled "Real Algebraic Geometry" hoping that it will give a breakthrough in my research. Sadly, we are so short of time that we can't talk about applications.
I never thought I would have to study the algebra stuff seriously. Now my desk is covered with lots of algebra books and convexity books.
